Why Give?

rom its founding, The Salisbury School, like all nonprofit schools, has had to rely on the philanthropy of school families and supporters to maintain excellent programs and prepare for the future. The Salisbury School has been blessed since its founding with a remarkable level of support from those committed to the school’s mission. The outstanding faculty, superior resources, and exceptional campus that constitute this Salisbury School experience would not be possible without the generous support of the entire School family.

Philanthropic support of education is part of a great American tradition. From the republic’s earliest days, philanthropy, or voluntary action for the public good, has been a key ingredient of a democratic society. Indeed, one of the lessons students learn at independent schools is the importance of supporting such worthy community endeavors as education.

The school’s mission—to educate and promote our students’ intellectual, physical and emotional development, through a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, in order to meet the challenges of a complex world—is an important aspect of the fundraising appeal. For many parents, the school’s noble mission makes it worthy of philanthropic support.

The Salisbury School trustees, administrators, faculty, and students recognize and deeply appreciate the many ways that our donors contribute to the life of the school. The gracious support of our friends ensures a bright and promising future for every Salisbury School student.

The Salisbury School relies heavily on the time, talent and financial contributions of its community members, both past and present. It is impossible to quantify the enormous impact our supporters have on our school. Through this support, we are able to offer the tradition of excellence for which we are known and to help make our school the best it can be.
