Admission Process

The admission committee, comprised of faculty and administrators, reviews each application carefully. The committee will return an admission decision within two weeks of receiving a completed application. No decision will be made on incomplete applications.

Lower and Middle School applicants will take The Salisbury School’s admission test on the day that they come to school for their daylong visit.

Upper School candidates will sit for the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). This three-hour standardized test from the Educational Records Bureau is offered four times during the school year.  We also do on site testing for students who make application to The Salisbury School at other times of the year. 

No, The Salisbury School students do not wear uniforms. However, the school does have a dress code. The dress code is designed to allow individual expression within reasonable limits. Students are expected to wear clothing that is neat, clean, and modest.

Yes. Many of our graduates earn generous merit scholarships and tuition grants for college. The class of 2022 received $2.5 million in grants and awards. Many of our students have also been honored with full tuition scholarships.

The Salisbury School believes that a well-educated individual has a variety of interests. We offer 17 competitive sports teams and activities in the fine and performing arts. The Salisbury School offers tailored tuition to qualified families in order to make our program available to students of all backgrounds. Pre-K classes do not qualify for tailored tuition.

The Salisbury School is an independent, non-sectarian school committed to a diversity of beliefs and backgrounds.

The school day begins promptly each day at 8:15 A.M. and ends at 3:00 P.M. for students in grades K-12. (Upper School students may have extracurricular or athletic activities until 5:30 P.M.)

Pre-Kindergarten students are dismissed each day at 11:45 A.M.

We do not offer bus transportation locally, although buses are available to students traveling from the Cambridge, MD, Ocean City/Berlin, MD, and Seaford, DE, areas. Please contact the Business Office at 410-742-4464, ext. 145 for information on bus schedules and fees.
