Dinosaur Lessons in Math and Science

Third graders have been learning about fossils and dinosaurs over the last few weeks. The class learned how fossils help scientists determine the environment of an area millions of years ago, how dinosaurs may have behaved, what they ate, and even what they may have looked like. Students enjoyed a dig for dinosaur fossils on our playground then put the pieces together to form complete dinosaurs. They also connected math to science in an activity comparing the measurement of their stride with that of dinosaurs to see if they could outrun a small dinosaur!
