Sixth-grade science classes finished their year of earth science learning about our solar system and galaxy. To gain a better understanding of the distances between planets and the sun, the students used scaled models of the planets and measured proportionate distances between them until they reached Neptune. Once they were almost 600 feet away they could look back to try to find Earth which was the size of a very small dot! Students finished the unit by creating children's books, travel brochures, or astronaut diaries which detailed the facts they had learned over the course of study. Those who created books had the opportunity to read their books to the Kindergarten class. Great job on learning something new and sharing it with your peers!
