Theater Department

The Theatre Arts Program provides students the opportunity to gain an understanding and appreciation for the art of drama. By enthusiastically providing exposure to a variety of interesting and stimulating activities and performance projects, students benefit from the objectives of The Salisbury School Theatre Arts Program:

  • to promote positive self-esteem
  • to cultivate an environment where team building and sense of community flourish
  • to have a working knowledge of theatre and communication vocabulary
  • to use critical thinking and analysis skills
  • to understand and perform theatre pieces from varying genres
  • to develop character through cultivating sense of responsibility and reliability 
  • to understand the main components of theatre and speech

  • Middle School Drama

    This eighth grade co-curricular class is a required course which is an introduction to the formal study of dramatic arts. This is a component for team building and increased self-confidence at the Middle School level.
  • Upper School Drama

    Upper School students have a wide variety of theatrical options, including theatre courses, a senior class play, and participation in the All School Musical through auditions. Students are also encouraged to perform during the Tri-M Honor Society's semi-annual Heart of the Arts, showcasing the talents of our students in the Upper School.
  • All School Drama

    Students from Kindergarten to 12th grade audition to participate in the spring all-school musical production. As the students rehearse together, they make lasting friendships beyond their own classrooms and division. The many TSS theatre supporters, within the school and the community, have been both delighted and amazed with the polished final productions.
